More then 3.5 million children and adults in the U.S sustain an acquire brain-injury ( ABI ) each year. Those who survive face a range of challenges- from temporary support symptoms to life- altering disability 5.3 million Americans live with a long-term disability as the result of traumatic brain-injury (TBI ) which is the leading cause of (ABI).


Brain-injury occurs indiscriminate and not only effects the individual  but their families and community as well.

This bill will ensure that commercial health insurance plans will include cognitive rehabilitation service related to treatment for brain-injury.
The effects of brain-injury can include  impaired thinking loneliness memory loss, movement sensation, 
( e.g vision or hearing and/or emotional functioning  ( e.g personality changes depression  
These impairments - which may result in loss of work and reliance cost long term support
rarely improve with out proper
rehabilitation treatment

Cognitive rehabilitative services help increase a survivor ability to live independently thereby lessening the need to more costly  long-term supports. Key compartments of this legislate which are intended for commercial health benefits plans only are highlighted below.

Health benefit plans can not include any lifetimes limitation or  unreasonable  annual limitation  on the numbers of days for acute and post acute care.
The limitation under the health benefits  plan for acute and post-acute care will be stated 
separably in the plan.

The health benefit plan must also include coverage for reasonable expensive for penitent re-evaluation .

The health benefit plan must provide adequate training to personal responsibility for pressurization of coverage or utilization review in order to prevent denial  of coverage.

Expansion of coverage for treatment facilitation to include individual practitioners and treatment  facilities qualified  to provide acute and none-acute care

The health benefit plan must prove this coverage  to people with all form of ABI including TBI, tumors, strokes, aneurysm ect. 


This legislation will increase access to proves rehabilitation services needed to help individuals with brain-injuries increases their ability to live independently
